Human powered VOCALOID is the act of rearranging speech/vocals of a material and matching it to the pitch of a song to make it sing. Typically, a source is rearranged to follow the lyrics of the song being used, but the tag can also apply to videos that have custom lyrics.

Some communities may limit the definition to creating and using sampled voicebanks for UTAU or similar (e.g., OpenUTAU). But on otoDB, this tag applies to rearranged vocals regardless of software or method, and therefore includes methods such as sentence mixing.

The "VOCALOID" portion of the name stems from the software of the same name: VOCALOID, though it is not related to VOCALOID.

This tag should not be added to works that tune speech/vocals without rearrangement. This tag should not be used for vocals generated with artificial intelligence models, unless it is the source being rearranged for vocals.
