About the "character specific" tag

#1

To me, this tag seems redundant, as I would think character specific works would have the character marked as a source tag with little to no other source tags. Having one character marked as a source on a work should implicitly convey the idea that the work focuses on them, assuming there isn't a source request. However, I would like to hear some other opinions on this tag. Maybe there is a use case I haven't considered.

I feel that the character_specific tag is justified since having a tag for each character would just be bloat. Considering that some character-specific videos are made based on obscure niche characters, meaning that those extra tags will have only one or two videos, depending on how many times that creator makes a video on that character. Having the character_specific tag and the media tag from where that character is from would simplify things.

t125.2: I agree that tag bloat is possible and that super specific tags could harm searching abilities, but I think it would be beneficial to the end user to know which character a work focuses on if it's character specific. Some tags already exist for niche characters, such as Wataten's mob, albeit this tag refers to all background characters from the show. Also, I think character tags could be useful when tagging themed multisource if the character matches closer to the theme than the media they originate from. For example, this video's gimmick is that most of the characters/persons used have the last name Yamada (there are a few exceptions to this). While it wouldn't be wrong to tag the work with only the shows the characters come from, I think character tags would make it clearer that these characters are related through their last name.

I will say that my opinion on this tag has changed. While I still think it's redundant, I think the could be helpful in marking videos that use niche characters that would be hard to give their own tag. I know I gave an example of a niche character(s) having its own tag earlier, but I realize that it's not easy to decide what the tag should be called if the character is not given a name officially or by fans.
