Should "that... thing" be deprecated?

I wanted to open a dialogue about if the that... thing tag should be Deprecated. The purpose of the tag on NND seems inconsistent and contested, and checking the Nicopedia article, the content that could be included under the tag seems highly variable as well. What this means for otoDB is that the tag doesn't really fill any particular role, at least that I can see. Any chance of streamlining the tag's parameters to fix this feels unattainable.

I feel it would be better off being deprecated; however, given it's storied history on NND, I would not do this without getting people's thoughts first. Is there a purpose the tag fills for the site that I'm not seeing? And is there a way to give the tag a set of rules so it can be applied to works independently of it just being in the tags for a work on NND?

t84.1: 4 months later, but I have decided that the best course of action would be to remove the children tags, and instead replace them with a non-exhaustive list in the wiki. I feel as though "that... thing" is too prominent on NND to fully deprecate, but it's utility is lacking, and it shouldn't be used for sorting. Moreover it made child tags for some of the biggest series on the site (inmu, GPW, cookie, etc.) way over crowded and hard to navigate. This is the best solution I could come up with, but it could always be reverted if it was deemed needed later down the line.
