The song ostensibly focuses on the bunny Jax, but in reality, it is about Thomas, a character created for the song as a parody of self-insert characters common in fandoms. He is said to resemble Jax in appearance; however, rather than sporting Jax's traditional and iconic purple hue and smooth scalp, Thomas is described as "red with spikey hair." The song describes the initial friendship, and subsequent fallout, between the two characters, including a sleepover in Thomas' treehouse that is implied to be a sexual awakening for the duo.
