At the outset of a new year, there's a ponder: if https://youtu.be/mzG6TCEwREA served up a hefty dose of ricesnot, with a dash of icesnort to stir the pot and round it out, how's about flipping those amounts? The thing then, and the end result, was closer to a blizzard of proportions
If you're not already familiar, the thing is a love letter to the https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLV6y4ihipqvLC_b0a55XbfR9QuzXJ0eBz series, which meant some work in a few aspects. This wasn't a new approach so much as a familiar one, but it shows how such ideas can grow. It wasn't a typical window for this type of upload either (by Snow Miser standards), although it reached beyond its immediate circle, and _might have_ shared a small corner of that lineage to those who _might not have_ otherwise run into it. Oops
That is to say, while '21 lacked an abundance of newfound Smiser entries (apart from https://youtu.be/bvWZuUcWO7A and https://youtu.be/TsfTDReyNjE), early recognition from icesnort coincided with a period where interest in the big ham was already picking up, going into the holidays. With the annual uploads becoming established, this too found its place as a revisit for many, both in and out of the time of year. As a matter of fact, its spot at the bottom of the https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLV6y4ihipqvKSNo80Ea2-BrxbXxNpqOTB playlist goes back to a point when there weren't many alternate takes around yet. In this case, "that is not how oopsie doodles [sic] works" because once it starts catching on, the heat spreads, and how much is too much is really up to you. The choice of BGM was only part of it, whereas the rest came down to the timing. If certain elements seem dated now, perhaps they were meant to fit a very narrow moment. As ever, whatever conclusions are drawn, the intent was always rooted in play. Oddly enough, a throwaway joke for the closing moment helped tie the whole thing together, as the punchline tipped into something more committed along the line
That is, too, to say, that this is where all signs point to the _MUDTERO_ shindig: https://nozobot.bandcamp.com/album/mudtero
For a late 1st anniversary tribute to Lil Nas X's debut album, what was supposed to be a one-off (with https://biffy.neocities.org/crawl%20chungus.wav playing) was reconsidered after the dust settled. By this stage, a last push was left to make the opener and bring said project to life. Notably, the album version of "INDUSTRY MISER" made a clutch finish (three days before the target September date!) with a guest feature that, on the same footing, lands best if you're familiar with the standing association behind it. And on the topic of landing, footing, and standing, it's better to go all in than to never try the jump. Then again, it followed its course. Where old habits held sway, it keeps the thing right where it belongs, and a full commitment seemed the way to go...
