Jeez, this was a heck of a lot of work. I wanted to make up for how long it's been since my last proper honk vid. It's been a whole month. Alex's channel: http://youtube.com/user/doorbell26 The audio of the video, as usual, was made from various videos of Alex honking. I shifted the pitch of these (manually) to match the pitches of the melody and harmonies in the backing track. It's one of my better videos, sound-wise. I think Corridors of Honk is the only one that sounds better. I basically used google images to find the pictures for the lyric sequence. I chroma-keyed a few of them so they'd look better. For the side-view of the road, I used google maps street view on a random road in Australia, and took 48 (!) screenshots after lining up the angle, loaded them into Sony Vegas, and made an image sequence of them, which loops. For Alex and Dominic, I already had usable masks done from Honk Shop Channel, so I plopped those, as well as the AE86 and RX-7 FC, into paint.net (great program btw). For the cars themselves, they weren't actually that simple. For the AE86, I had to first find a photo of the AE86 from the side, then I had to manually cut it out from its background (since color select didn't work for the picture I found), then I had to find the correct japanese text (and no, throwing "Fujiwara Tofu Shop" into google translate doesn't return the right characters! I tried!) and paste it onto the car. The RX-7 (the yellow car) was a lot more work. Not only did I have to do all of the above work, but after I had the car all prepped, I realized that it wasn't completely accurate, so I added a spoiler and the labels from a different picture of the same car. The spoiler is from a different car, is what I'm saying. I had to redraw some of the rear windshield so it'd look right. The motion of the cars was simple enough. The zoom in at the overtake near the end was pretty hard to get right, since both cars and the background are all on different layers. I had to manually line them up after moving the camera. It might have been less work to just render once, do the zoom in on the render, then render again. But I didn't think of that until I'd already figured it out and done the work. I was going to add a scene at the end where Carl the honking Frog pulls them over, but that would have been way too much work for me to bother with it. Besides, you guys have been waiting long enough for this. If you actually read this, thank you so much for caring about my process!
