This is my entry for #RSVideoJam2 but I’ve been meaning to make this for a while now. The film is “Solar Adventure” (aka Robot King Sunshark [로보트왕 썬샤크]), an anti-communist South Korean film that mixes live action and animated scenes. It follows a group of schoolchildren who work together with aliens to thwart the evil collaboration of the General and President who wish for unification and space domination respectively. It’s been one of my favorite bad-but-funny movies ever since I watched it on my TV as a kid.
This video isn’t a good introduction to what the film is about or why I find it funny, but I am still happy with the result. My initial idea was far more humorous, but as I worked on the video, it became more serious in tone without me realizing it. Not sure why this happened, but perhaps it’s out of the respect I gained for the director Joseph Lai and his passion to make low-budget action films. I’ll leave the reflection here since my thoughts are better suited for a blog.
I hope that in another video, I can better showcase why I find the film funny. |
