Description
Unlike in Japanese, the term “鬼畜” (Guǐchù) has developed a unique meaning within Chinese internet culture. In the early days, the video “Ronald McDonald Insanity” (sm2057168) spread to the Chinese web and left a huge impact. At that time, the word 音MAD had not yet been introduced in China. Instead, the rarely used Chinese word “鬼畜,” taken from that video’s title, came to serve as a label for 音MAD and for similar, homegrown forms of remix that existed in China but had not yet been named. Over time, “鬼畜” grew into a context distinct from 音MAD, blending grassroots culture, parody editing, musical rhythm, and “BB Theater”-style video skits (parody made from chroma-keyed materials). Together with 音MAD, it has undergone seventeen years of localization and development within Chinese internet communities. This collaboration, then, is our act as Chinese MAD creators to pay homage to and look back on more than a decade of native “鬼畜” culture. It is like a letter sent back to the past, allowing the possibilities and vitality embedded in the memories of each era to blossom once again today. 日本語とは異なり、「鬼畜」（Guǐchù/グぇイチュウ）という語は中国語において特有の意味を持っている。初期に作品『M.C.ドナルドはダンスに夢中なのか？最終鬼畜道化師ドナルド』（sm2057168）が中国のインターネットに伝わり、大きな影響力をもたらした。したがって、「音MAD」という言葉がまだ中国のネットに広まっていなかった当時、この作品タイトルに由来する、もともと中国語の文脈ではあまり用いられていなかった「鬼畜」という語が、「音MAD」および中国本土にすでに存在していたが名称のなかった類似形式を含む総称として、中国のネット上に定着した。
「鬼畜」という語の文脈は「音MAD」とはやや異なり、草の根文化・パロディ編集・リズム編集・BB劇場などの要素を組み合わせ、日本語本来の意味における音MADという形式とともに、中国で十七年にわたり土着的に育まれてきた。
したがって、本企画は「中華音MAD作者」として私たちが、過去十数年にわたる中国本土の「鬼畜」文化という語に捧げるトリビュートであり回顧である。過去へ宛てた返信の手紙のように、各時代に残された可能性と生命力を宿す記憶が、現代において再び爆発するのだ。
