TitleUnwelcome School - New Year's Dreams! [Collab Entry]
Description
WATCH THE COLLAB: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNq11qSH7SI Audio - Zolphius Art & Animation - smileyshirt & Zolphius Visuals - @ethanalias Medley - @EXT4NT NO BGM: https://youtu.be/luK8uom38ZQ I'm so proud of this part! It was so much fun to work on it and I'm so happy✰ I had the privilege to be apart of NYD after watching the collabs every year for over half a decade and always being amazed by them. These collabs always set the bar for the community and genuinely pushed the medium farther, so to know now that I'm in one is like a dream come true. No pun intended. So, this part is mostly the work of Zolphius, who was also the mind behind Roses are Red last year with @kreshi0324. He was determined to center his part around something much more obscure to do something memorable and unique with his part. After doing a deep dive into cookie, he thought that having a part themed after a touhou voice drama made in Flipnote Studio 3D, that was often praised for being "surprisingly good." Admittedly, I wasn't quite sold on the concept at first, especially for using it entirely for the audio as well. But to Zolphius' credit, he has conviction. All the samples in the audio are from the original voice drama, as sparse as they are in good audio material. Somehow... Zolphius made it work! Check out the NO BGM box visuals version above. Even though I didn't see the vision at first, when everything came together in the end he proved himself right by how awesome and unique the part turned out. I'm still so pleased! He made the storyboard and planned out each sequence, and then we split up the work. He and I started drawing our hearts out! I did most of the character drawings and animations, and he focused on backgrounds and props, with some character art too. A lot of the art was actually done on my real 3DS and imported directly from Flipnote! The spinning shot halfway through was known by us as "smiley's magnum opus", because I kept insisting that it be put it despite it being such an insane sounding idea. But my thought was that we needed to get some flash and wow factor in this part somewhere so we could keep the high energy the rest of the collab has going. Having Yajuu mama be a photo like with flipnote's camera feature was also my idea, and I fought hard for that. I just knew that it'd add a lot of comedic charm to her scenes... and it'd also make it easier for us, lol. After all of the art was completed, Ethan Alias collected it all together and put it into After Effects, adding camera movement and transitions. Huge shoutout to him, as this part definitely would look a lot more boring if me or Zolphius compiled it instead, lol. And thank you to Ethan for putting up with our many tiny tiny nitpicks and changes that we would constantly barrage him with until things looked just quite right! Ethan, you're an angel. Thank you for watching and if you haven't, I implore you to check out the full collab! #ytpmv #otomad
