Due to this track's absence in the original soundtrack release of Donkey Kong Country 2, several monikers have been used to refer to this track:

  • MINE: Technically the track's original name, originating from the game's Music Test menu.
  • Mining Melancholy: While this title was coined by a fan, this is arguably the most famous moniker associated with this track. Supposedly originated from DK Vine in 1999.
  • Kannon's Klaim: The title used for the track in the Music Test menu of the game's Game Boy Advance remake.
  • Kannon's Klanking: The title given to the track after its inclusion to Nintendo Music in 2024, making this the official Nintendo approved title for the track.

These two sources claim that Mining Melancholy was specifically coined by DK Vine co-founder Chad McCanna, but neither cite any further sources and most sources seem to just attribute DK Vine in general: https://twitter.com/KRoolKountry/status/1412782623114489856 https://www.reddit.com/r/donkeykong/comments/1k81qmw/comment/mp4fi55/
